At Lakmē Fashion Week SS’26, Anamika Khanna once again redefines the language of contemporary Indian fashion through her label AK|OK. This season, the designer moves away from perfection-driven aesthetics and embraces something far more nuanced—imperfection.
The AK|OK SS’26 collection is not just a showcase of garments but a philosophical exploration of individuality, identity, and the beauty of the unexpected.
The Inspiration: Beauty in the Unexpected

For SS’26, unveiled at Lakmē Fashion Week, Khanna turns her gaze to the beauty of the unexpected.
“This collection almost built itself because the muse was the flower that just didn’t belong where it grew,” she reflects. “It was stunning in its careless choice. That was the first visual and the overarching emotion of this collection.”
This metaphor of a misplaced yet striking flower becomes the emotional anchor of the collection—celebrating elements that defy structure, symmetry, and expectation. The silhouettes reflect this ethos through fluid layering, asymmetry, and organic construction.
Identity Over Uniformity
This idea of imperfection naturally extends into her exploration of identity. AK|OK has always resisted rigid definitions, and this season is no different.
“Clothes and their wear share an interesting relationship,” she explains. “I find that the same garments look different on different people because clothes assume the identity of the person who wears them.”
It’s a perspective that resists uniformity in favour of individuality.
“How boring it would be to turn fashion into a straitjacket of uniform identity.”

Here, Khanna challenges the idea of fashion as prescriptive. Instead, AK|OK SS’26 encourages wearers to reinterpret garments, making each look deeply personal rather than trend-driven.
One of the most exciting developments this season is the introduction of menswear. Rather than a separate identity, it seamlessly integrates into the AK|OK philosophy.
“The pattern making is different for men, of course, but the brand’s philosophy is not gendered,” she says. “Building the men’s capsule was a natural extension of a collection that celebrates the unusual.”
The menswear line mirrors the same fluidity—blurring lines between structured and relaxed, traditional and modern, masculine and androgynous.
A Palette Without Hierarchy
Colour in SS’26 plays a subtle yet powerful role. Moving from soft ecru tones to deeper, moodier hues, the palette avoids hierarchy or dominance.

“At AK|OK Anamika Khanna, we keep saying, ‘everything is OK’,” she shares. “That remains true across all pieces, nothing truly shifts across colour, gender, or… any difference.”
This approach reinforces inclusivity—not just in design but in emotion. Every piece exists on equal footing, much like the individuals who wear them.
Fashion as Personal Space
At its core, the collection is about self-expression without boundaries.
“This collection does not want anyone to belong anywhere except in their own space, where they are comfortable,” Khanna says. “We hope the wearer chooses to make the piece their own instead of adapting themselves to a piece.”
In true Anamika Khanna fashion, it’s not just about what you wear, but how you choose to exist within it.
Anamika Khanna’s AK|OK SS’26 at Lakmē Fashion Week is not merely a collection—it is a quiet rebellion against perfection, a celebration of individuality, and a reminder that fashion is at its most powerful when it feels personal. By embracing the imperfect, the fluid, and the undefined, Anamika Khanna invites us to rethink not just what we wear, but how we inhabit it.
In a world that often demands conformity, AK|OK SS’26 offers something far more liberating—the freedom to exist exactly as you are.
